I note the difference between this pic in WA and some similar ones in SA. - Unfortuantely here in SA the media jumped on a few catches like this off metro jetties with the "burleying sharks into swimming areas claim" and the end result was no wire traces and no hooks with a gape wider that 18mm to be used bewteen 6am and 9pm. Burleying within 4km of shore was already banned but they claimed the large fish baits were attracting sharks. Stupid law which means you pretty well can't fish for anything bigger than tommies, mullet gar etc. Feel sorry for anyone who wants to try for a metro snapper or mulloway locally here. Even more stupid is I can fill a crab net with fish and drop that over and hey apparently no problem... go figure
Media wouldn't have a clue - More than 20 years ago I used to fish off metro jetties for sharks. The sharks are there anyway as they follow schools of mullet salmon up the beaches and also feed on the old ray etc.
